Ready Steady Cook Westmeath Style The Event

Co. Westmeath Tourism Ltd. was delighted with a full house at their recent Ready, Steady Cook Westmeath Style event. There was a great buzz around Belvedere House on Wednesday 4th November as a large number of foodies gathered to watch exciting cook offs between chefs representing restaurants from all over the county.(www.athlone.ie)

The overall aim of this exciting new food event was to promote local restaurants. The emphasis was on supporting local businesses and to drive business into the restaurants. Each ticket holder received €160 worth of restaurant vouchers to use. All participating restaurants offered a fantastic array of mouth watering tastings prior to the show.Said Rhona Rogers, Tourism Development Officer.

The fashion show which was held in St Dominic's Community Centre on 10th Nov 2009, was a great success. The show attracted a large crowd which was fantastic for the Sticky Fingers Community Childcare Centre as all the proceeds went towards their facilities. Irish Air Ambulance Fashion Show

Organisers both Melissa and Paula got a fantastic turnout on the 25th Oct 2009. The event was organised to raise funds for the Irish Air Ambulance. There were 28 models in total who were indulged in a exciting make over. Clothes were modeled from local shops in Longford town.

Hi guys, here's a peep at some of the shots I took for a debs in Mullingar, Westmeath. I went to Zoe's house and photographed her and her friends before they departed on their night out. They look stunning! Don't they?

Emma looks elegant in this shot. I always try to bring colour into a photograph it make a huge difference as you can see here!

This shot was taken in Zoes front lawn, I basically set up the scene, brought out the flower pots for colour and the bench for sitting. The shot looks more relaxed this way for large groups.

Hi, guys hope your all well. Last week was very exciting for me. Hu O'Reilly telephoned me asking me would I assist him on a job which involved photographing the Real Madrid foot ball team training, at conferences and biggest part of the job was to do a group shot of the whole football team together. It was an great job to work on, got to meet all the players even got a shot with Ronaldo which Hu took for me. Here's a glimpse of the lads and myself. Enjoyed it a lot. Thanks Hu.

Hi guys, Just giving you a little info about Linda and Ross wedding on the 3rd July 2009. It was in the Lady Chapel Maynooth, followed by the reception in the The fabulous K Club in Kildare. There were an absolute delight to photograph and there were blessed with the weather. Cheers guys I had a great day!

Ross is a lover of fishing, his best man set this one up! Good man Paul!

I always try to photograph the bride alone, it makes a big difference in the couples album. (as for the groom also)

Here I was shooting with my most loved lens the 70 - 200. As I can stand from a distance and capture the couple as they are. I love capturing those precious moments that only the couple know what it was about!

I really enjoyed this shoot I brought Mary Teresa and Francy to the beautiful Lough Rynn Castle. I let the couple walk ahead of me and I shot them from a distance with my 70 -200 ml lens. This is the best way for the couple to relax and be themselves. As you can see from the images their having a lot of fun and laughing between themselves, that only they will know what that moment was about. I brought them through the gardens and shot some portrait images of them both with some flowers in the forefront. I wanted to capture the love they share between them and some moments do last forever.!

I have complied all the images from the photo shoot into a beautiful Landscape book.

The Lucy Kennedy Show Photoshoot

This was a very exciting shoot for me. Firstly, I got to meet Lucy the funniest and nicest girl on the planet, I also got to work on the images which were going to be used on her show. I was once again working with the talented Gerry Grace on this shoot. We had to shoot six different shots of Lucy which were going to be printed on canvas and displayed on the wall behind her on her show.

Next time it's on have a look there in black & white. Lucy looks stunning in them all. Gerry did a fantastic job. Her show is on every Tuesday on RTE two at 10.50pm. The show is a mix of lively chat, celebrity gossip and comedy.

The All Ireland Talent Show / Photoshoot

This shoot went really well. I was working with Gerry Grace an excellent photographer based in Dublin. We both had to work hard but it was alot of fun. Basically,The All Ireland Talent Show is an upcoming RTÉ television series billed as Ireland's biggest-ever countrywide talent contest, RTE were shooting a promo for the show and Gerry had to take shots of each individual judge, who were Shane Lynch, Dáithí Ó Sé, Dana,Bláthnaid Ní Chofaigh and John Creedon, and the presenter Gráinne Seoige. So I met all the gang. They were a delight to work with and lots of interesting stories told along the way. The only person I was stuck for words with was Shane Lynch, yes, I was one of those girls. a true lover of boyzone I was hee! Gerry were clever enough to grap a shot of me and Shane together before he left the shoot I was delighted. I also learned alot on this photoshoot as I always do when I work with Gerry. Looking forward to the next shoot with him.

It was a happy event in one way but a sad event in another as this was the last goodbyes to my classmates. David's photo shoot went really well today. He was so much fun to work with. I brought him to the local forest and let him do his own thing while I captured every moment on camera. David's book is in process. I've just started this project so it will be a week till I get the finished product.

Hey guys, Here we have little Emily. I did a photo shoot of her today. We just walked through her dads back field. You'd be surprised at the beautiful shots you can take just right outside your back garden. I got the first three shots at sunset, beautiful light. She was a delight to work with. I'm in the process of designing a book about her. Its a 36 paged hardcover book H 8.3 x W 11.7 which comprises all the the images I take on the photo shoot. Which is all on location as I feel it is outside in natures surroundings and light you can capture your child's true personality.

She's very excited to see the finished piece. As so am I!

I love shooting with the wide angle lens when there's a beautiful blue sky like this one with natures surroundings. Capturing kids of guard is the best. As you can capture their true personality and thoughts.

The day after the show, I was in the gallery, when I saw Mary McAleese walking down the ale of chq. I started a conversation with her and invited her into the gallery. She politely came in and had a look at my work. She was so nice and congratulated me and wished me the best of luck in my future as she knows I've only finished college a few months. She liked my dogs and she had a look at my dog book which I gave her. Hope you enjoy it Mary . Thanks to her for taking time out from her busy schedule and giving her time to me. appreciate it. Hey everyone, thanks to all who came to the opening night in Chq for the Standing Alone exhibit. Congrats to Richie, Lucia, and Gerry for their well-deserved awards. I was also very happy myself when I received an award for best set of humours and energetic photographs. It was a great night overall ( hope ye all enjoyed the cocktails, thanks to Diageo for that. Here are the photographs I exhibited for the show, the two first images are from my dog book, which I designed and photographed myself, this book is also for sale along with my dog prints, fully mounted and framed

The Paul Kelly Gallery at CHQ opened on August 8th to great success with Paul's own show 'Dog Days' featuring the photographers own work from the past few years from eight different countries.

On Friday September 12th the Paul Kelly Gallery opens its doors to the group show 'Standing Alone.' A show of 13 photographers working in Ireland.This show will feature a variety of work from disciplines as diverse as fashion,fetish,landscape and wildlife.Leading fashion photographer, Agata Stoinska from Poland and our own Mella Travers and Emily Quinn are among the exhibitors.Hector Heathwood lends his inimitable sensual style with some cutting edge and world recognised fetish work. Advertising photographers hu O Reilly, Fionn Mccann and Gerry Morgan illustrate that there is more to a photographer in this field than producing reflection-free images on a wine bottle.

New work will also show by Johnny Savage,Kris McGuirk,Richard Stokes,Lucia de Nile, Clare - Frances Cassells, Steve Ryan and Paul Kelly

This show runs until September 30th and is open 7 days a week from 10am until 7pm Monday -Friday and 12 until 6 on Saturdays and Sundays.

Hi guys, Im back from my two week holiday in Morocco. Had such a good time, I love this country second time there. I've posted up a few shots which I took over there.

I love these two shots of this little girl. This was taken with my wide angle lens. Thats why the sky looks so wide and surreal in the first shoot. She a princess, have to send over the photo to the girl hence the phone number in the sand,we couldn't find a pen anywhere! Good idea tough!

This butcher man gave me a lesson on meat. He explained every part of meat that was hanging infront of him, to the right is cows stomach to the left is cows tongue. Nice!

Ok, here's a continuation of this baby book project I'm creating. I love the emotion in these shots, capture the true side of a baby. This is one of the double page spreads in the book.

Here's a sneak preview of a job I'm doing for a client of mine. I'm compiling a series of different images of a 14 month old baby, her name is Grace isn't she a Beauty.. The middle of the book will be in black and white and the rest will be in colour. She was a delight to work with. I laid her on a bed against a large window letting in beautiful light, I captured a range of different expressions, some very funny one's. When it's fully complete I let you see how it turned out..It's a nice keepsake to have of your child I think.

DIT Catalogue

I photographed all the Art students from DIT for this catalogue. I used my fab 700-200mm lens along with two studio lights with umbrellas. The idea was to capture the personality of each student while holding up their art work.

The catalogue is divided into five sections fine art, product design, design display, visual communications (my course) and interior & furniture design. Each course has a different coloured cover which are reversible.
Here is a list of the 33 people in my class.

DIT_MyGraduateExhibition

My graduate exhibition was held in CHQ. It's an excellent venue for our specially designed 3D displays, which was different from previous years. The official opening was on Tue 10th June and on Thur 12th was for the members of Design Industry to attend by invite only. Adrain Shaugnessy was our guest speaker for the night. Following the exhibit the guests moved onto the Jeanie Johnston boat where they were served champagne and light refreshments. it was a great opportunity for us the students to talk to designers and photographers,(pic below of a few of the guests). Overall, I was delighted with the night and everyone's displays looked great. The exhibition is open from 10th till the 14th June . For more info on the students check out www.lastandfirst.ie ( I am also proud to say I photographed all the Art students from DIT for the end of the year catalogue, which I will post up after this. Check out my display below.

On the back of each students display unit there is a photograph of themselves. Each student, is doing something different. I'm looking down at Owen who said something cheeky to me. At night the displays were lined up against the window (as you can see above) so you can see each student. Great idea...

This was a mini shoot a did for a friend of mine Ruth. She wanted some casual shots of herself with her dog. I divided the day into two sections one casual as you can see above and below and the other half of the day was more fashionable, which you can see below.

I used the 700-200mm 2.8 lens for these walking in the distance shots. This lens is especially great for weddings, capturing the moment between the couple as they walk away to spend time alone from the guests. I t also has a great depth of field..love it, heavy though..

Ok, I confess, I've retouched this image, as ruth suggested she would like at least one image retouched. Personally, I don't like to much retouching, but I think I didn't do a bad job! Don't know if I'd make a retoucher tough ha! I smoothed out her skin, removed any dark circles and wrinkles.
I used my lovely 17-40mm wide angle lens for this shot. I love using this lens for those obscure angled shots. This shoot was taking in Ardagh Longford in a graveyard. I wanted a different feel to the shoot and I like the celtic cross Looking good Ruth...

Here I entered into the world of a young man who has many problems in his life. Bulimia, d***s, h***********y, b*******d, the images speak for themselves, I'll let you imagination figure out the rest of his life. The images are compiled into a small 5x7 book. The overall feeling of the book is quite dark and solemn.
